Just found myself a new quote that I quite enjoyed:
“You don’t take a photograph, you make it” – Ansel Adams
I like to think that I’m on my way to making my own photography. I think only time will tell. Just recently I sold my first photo!!! Wow was that a milestone for me. Here is the photo, which I actually sold to The Tuscaloosa News. I actually have a daily alarm on my phone, that reminds me to take a look outside, and see what the clouds look like for the day, to see if there are any sunsets worth running out and catching. This one, I actually was just driving home and happened to have my camera in my car. Lucky day!
I’ve also been exploring a new website, HDR Spotting, and been fortunate enough to make a couple of good stats with my postings there. Both pictures have been previously posted here, the Bell Tower at Trinity College in Dublin, and La Sagrada Familia stained glass windows from Spain. Both made it to the second page of the “featured photos,” and the stained glass actually made it to the front page of the most popular photos from September! Here’s a link to the photo and then you can peak around the website if you like.
And a new post wouldn’t be complete without a new photo to add as well, this one taken while exploring the magestic ruins of Chichen Itza, outside Piste, Mexico. The history really comes to life in the stone walls of a structure like this, and even though this was my first time to visit, a presence seemed to make me feel like I had been here before.
That’s all for now, but while out in Arizona visiting the family, I had some time to work on several more new photos, which will be up in the coming days. The sunsets out there are also pretty amazing, so hopefully I’ll be posting some HDR’s of the Phoenix area skyline.
