We had about one or two weeks of really cold nights, and I came down one morning to see these little guys all puffed up, using the air in their feathers to hold in the warmth. I quick ran back upstairs to get my camera, threw on my big-ole lens (or the 70-300 f4-5.6 if you’re technically concerned). It was pretty dark out still so I snapped a couple shots right away, ate breakfast, then checked them out again to see how the light had changed. They were apparently hungry too, and their feathers had lost some of their poof, but before I could even take another shot they headed out for the morning. I think their fluffy-ness really makes them more interesting, so I’m glad I didn’t just wait!
