The “Ugly” Challenge
Challenge really isn’t a great word for it, because that makes it seem challenging, which it shouldn’t be. It should be interesting, and perhaps give you an opportunity to try out something new. Anyways, find something that could be considered “UGLY” and photograph it. Shed interesting light in a new way. Dates will follow, but let’s say we have about a week and a half. We’ll shoot for Wednesday of next week, the 29th.
Church in the Wild
Ominous skies are the best! As much as I love a nice sunny day as the next guy, nothing makes for some stellar photo ops like an overcast, textured sky filled with clouds and light and textures. You can really notice that my photographing quantities go down on those ‘clear blue sky’ days. That or I end up finding different styles of things to point the lens at. Oh, and speaking of lenses, shortly here I’ll be coming out with a ‘gear bag’ section of the site, highlighting some of the equipment I use (this seems to be a recurring question), and my experiences.
Not necessarily a topic that many folks find all that interesting, but apparently I’m one of them. Color calibrating your monitor isn’t something that a lot of folks do, but now after seeing the before and after, I’m a believer.
Drunken Spider Web
After a spectacular sunset, I was fairly certain to be finished shooting for the evening, but this bridge continued to draw my interest. Happily walking around, full of food and a couple of long island iced teas, we explored different interesting angles to display the intricacies of the structure. The way the angles and lines criss-crossed and connected, reminded us of a spider, maybe one who had an iced tea or two them self before getting to work.
The Computer is Back!
Phew, normally I’m one to do my own computer repairs, but messing with laptops internals is a bit more than I generally like to do. I’ll likely get the first California photos completed in the next few days, so be checking back soon!
Beautiful Night at the Office
This little office building seemed pretty interesting. It had the long walkway up to it that you see here, which just kind of added to the structure. We were actually out to dinner during this sunset, but I ordered and excused myself from the group in order to take advantage of the wonderful colors that were unfolding on the horizon. Sometimes you just can’t help but get out there!
