Night Lights

New Prints

I just finished up this photo for my friend Philippe Gardner. We’ll be printing this large, I mean really large, 40×70, on Aluminum from Bay Photo Lab for his dining room. Needless to say, I’m excited.

*Night Lights – ‘Urban Light’ // Los Angeles, California*

It was maybe 1 or 2a.m. by the time we finally got our bags and made it thru the car rental.  Definitely later than expected, and later than we would have liked to be exploring the area.  But, when time is tight, make the most of it!  We’ve only got so much in any given day, month or year, so use it when you have it. In the end, I think I like that we were here so late.  It gave a chance to see the lights without all the people that I would expect are normally visiting.  But, I do like the couple of kids that were hanging out on the stairs.  Sometimes a human element gives a little extra something to a photo.

Exciting

There’s always a nervous excitement before something new begins, but it’s a great feeling.

Steadfast – Matador Beach // Los Angeles, California

I think I was struggling to shoot something completely interesting this night in northern LA… Even though the beach and sunset were great, I just wasn’t getting what I thought it could have been.

After the sun had set, I cranked up my F stop to try a bit of long exposure to settle out the crashing waves, and I really could have even gone a little longer than 30 seconds to really smooth everything out, but I liked the way the rocks looked with the thin mist of waves around them.
