I have been feeling a bit of extra wanderlust here lately… I think I need to get out in to nature to settle my mind.
*Under the Double Arch – Arches National Park // Moab, Utah*
This shot was made during an unfortunately brief trip to Arches National Park. A place I would definitely love to go back and visit again. If you’ve never seen them in person, it’s hard to imagine how massive these arches actually are, but to give an idea, the height of one of the arches is over 10 stories tall!
Looking back thru photos is how I remember places. They bring back such strong memories, and it makes me happy to be able to remember them more vividly thru photographs.
*In a Cloud of Color – Holi Festival // Spanish Fork, Utah*
My Favorites | 13 for 2013 (4 of 13)
How could a ‘Favorites of 2013’ collection be complete without a shot from the Holi Festival of Colors in Spanish Fork? It was a 100 mile an hour week long journey from Denver to Salt Lake City and back, with two extremely colorful days spent at the festival.
I watched the sun go down at Sparks Lake last night. I can never get enough of reflections!
*At Last Light // Central Utah*
The sun had long gone down, and we were still on the road. The GPS showed a huge body of water off to the right, but no roads leading to it. There was a small gravel road leading off the highway, so in SUV fashion we decided it was probably fine. That road gets you close, but not quite all the way to the water. There was a pesky barbed wire fence that almost took a little piece of me with it, but on the waters edge was exactly what I was looking for, even in the 20mph winds
I pulled these from the Thought Catalog (www.thethoughtcatalog.com) a while back. They really hit home.
Make no time for excuses. You want to work out, but you don’t have the time? Wake up early and get your gym on. Excuses are only rationalizations that make you feel better about yourself for not doing something you want/need to be doing. You desire results? Stop bitching, and start doing.
Chaos – Arches National Park // Moab, Utah
It’s been a while since being out in Utah, but it’s great to go back and look thru the catalog. Unfortunately we only had a day to explore Arches National Park, but made every attempt to take advantage of the time there.
Balancing Rock, Double Arch, Delicate Arch, all were on the ticket of the day’s to-do list. Oh and that was all after getting a sunrise at Green River. This shot was taken hiking off the trail a bit (don’t tell anyone), as these trees tangled mess of branches were jutting towards the sky.

Masked – Festival of Colors // Spanish Fork, Utah
A little ‘down’ time during the Festival of Colors, enjoying the atmosphere and listening to some amazing music. I believe this was during MC YOGI, who was one of my favorite artists of the entire weekend. There were a lot of these masks around, protecting all the festival goers of the copious amounts of color flying thru the air.
If you’re in to religious buildings (like the one below), you should definitely check out Scott Jarvie’s “Faith In America” kickstarter project here: http://bit.ly/americanfaith
Three Pillars Towards the Sky – Temple Square // SLC, Utah
I really can’t say enough about the trip out to Utah. Every time I head west I find more and more things and people and places that I enjoy. After running around with a great group of photogs on a #jarviewalk, a few of us decided to hit Ensign Peak for a sunset over this city. Apparently all day shooting wasn’t enough this day, and Jared M. Gant offered to show Britta and I around Temple Square.
Seen here, the Salt Lake Temple over the Reflecting Pool was definitely worth the extra time spent.
