Starting to scheme getting back to Patagonia. Do you ever think about places you’ve been and what they might be like today?

Desert moments, with a car that has become so much more than just a vehicle, more than I ever expected all those years ago.

Lens flares in the southern Utah desert. I really am looking forward to getting back to this location for another night of camping. Sunrise here is 🙌🏼

These feet were made for walking, and they’ve carried me to many a natural place over the years. Often times painted toes, and often times missing a toenail or two, I’ve been hard on them. Here’s to many more miles, and many more adventures to come.

Not the most flat or level or big enough rock I’ve ever slept on, but hard to argue with the view.

Campfires, log cabins, good friends, and a couple of cold hard kombuchas by @flyingembersbrew was the scene for our recent camping and skiing trip out to Elk Lake.

For the last month I’ve been out with @flyingembersbrew photographing friends making the most of their days and the best of their nights.

I was stoked to be introduced to their organic, plant-based drinks. They even donate a portion of all sales to rewilding programs and natural disaster response. It’s pretty great when your drink tastes and does good. #rethinkyourdrink

Can you spot the tiny humans at the edge of the frozen lake? Some amazing Lenticular clouds overlooking the Sisters and Broken Top here in central Oregon.

“It is our choices…, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities” Name that quote 🙂

Trying my best to reframe an old cheers that y’all may have heard before: “these are the moments I’ll never forget, with the people that made them more special than I could ever appreciate in the moment.”

Do you ever just randomly wake up at 5am and then try to sleep for an hour then decide it’s better just to get up? I think my brain’s timer for when it needs to think is a little off these days.

Over the last few years, one thing has remained consistent, whenever the crew wants to spend some quality time together, we head out for camp. In the mountains, out in the desert, or at a quiet hot springs, we’ll post up for a few days, sometimes a week, and just be outside. While I absolutely love backpacking into a remote wilderness area, it’s also pretty nice to have some of the creature comforts: a big stove, electricity, comfy chairs, and a campfire. Ideally, though, the best camping spots don’t have cell signal!

My go to spot for all the creature comforts of camp has been and continues to be @backcountry, and I am stoked to share some photos from our last weekend out.

I am continuing to partner with @backcountry in hopes to encourage you to get outside and find your backcountry, wherever that may be. Use code WILLIE15 for 15% off your first purchase at! (exclusions apply ) #findyourbackcountry

Next time, winter here: ski touring down to the ocean. It’s great to experience the same place in different seasons.

Out for a morning tour up Tumalo, the conditions were clear when we left, then fully socked in, then clear again. It’s one of those “you never really know what you’re gonna get in the mountains” kind of days. I had luckily (and honestly I don’t always do this) packed an extra lens and quickly swapped over to the lighter lenses that come with the @smithoptics Reverb glasses.

Check out the link in my bio for more.
